Dr. Jiao received her Bachelor in Social Science (Honors) in Psychology from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Master of Arts in Child and Family Education from the Education University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, SAR. She then spent two years working as a full-time Research Assistant at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong, supporting research on high school students’ career development in Education and on death and bereavement in Social Work.
She received a Ph.D. degree in Human Development and Family Science at Florida State University (FSU) in 2024. Before joining 91探花, she worked as a postdoctoral scholar at East Carolina University (ECU) for two years. She taught family relationships and intimate relationships at FSU and ECU. Her research interests focus on interpersonal relationships in young adulthood, particularly how parent–child relationships may be related to young adults’ romantic relationships, marriages, and socio-emotional well-being. She also examines these relationships across various social contexts, including cultural contexts, race and ethnicity, and military families. She is also a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) affiliated with the National Council on Family Relations.
